WHATS’S MY THEME

I know that it can be difficult to really figure out what your Instagram theme is or how to keep it cohesive and consistent. I am probably the last person to be talking about consistent or cohesive themes considering I change my theme when I get bored which seems to be every few months. But when I do have a theme I really love, like I do now, I know how to keep it cohesive. So here are my few little tips and tricks for you.

TYPES OF THEMES

So the first step to having a nice cohesive theme is by deciding your editing style. Do you like dark and moody, colorful, bright white, popping blues, or neutrals? I figured out an easy way to decide what my editing style was by going through instagram and Pinterest. Two of the best places to find inspiration for pretty much anything really. When I was deciding on my new theme I kept thinking about which accounts kept getting my attention. It was the ones that were bright and slightly desaturated but the colors popped. So that is how I came up with my bright theme I have now and I love so very much.

COLORS

Another thing to consider when deciding what type of theme you are going to have is colors. What I mean is by kind of looking around you and maybe what you like to wear. What color stands out the most when you look at your clothes, your room, or house. Is it more neutral, moody, colorful, or are you obsessed with blues, or is everything super bright and airy. The colors I have included in my theme right now are blues, greens, oranges, pinks, and white. Some way in each of the photos that make up my theme include at least one of these colors. It helps to not only edit your photos the same with the same preset on each one. But the colors as well help to pull everything together.

WHAT’S MY STYLE ?

What’s my style you may ask and here’s the thing that is completely up to you. No one can decide that but you. Now when I say style though I don’t necessarily mean the way you dress, but the type of photos you are posting and the style of them. Are you a travel blogger who wants to post travel photos, or a baker, a photographer, a food blogger, an artist, a dancer, a lifestyle influencer.

The list goes on and on but what I’m trying to say is each of these niche’s have a certain style of photos. You know like a travel blogger will obviously post photos of the amazing places they have traveled. A photographer will post photos of their best work. A food blogger will post about what they have made or tried to cook. I lean more towards the lifestyle side of this so I have a little more freedom to what I post. Meaning I can post about my everyday life or my favorite make up, or favorite food. I’m not saying I have complete and total freedom and can post a photo from pretty much every niche.

Now what I’m saying is it just does give me a little more wiggle room like here on my blog. I love fashion, beauty, and photography. But by not labeling my self as a fashion blogger, or beauty guru. I do have the freedom to talk about each subject and my everyday life as much as I want. Because these are things that are in my everyday life and I love talking about them.

HASHTAGS

Now this isn’t exactly about your theme but it can help your overall growth of your Instagram. Hashtags as obnoxious as they can be they do help a lot. With each niche there are hashtags to go along with it. Like a food blogger or baker will use food related hashtags. A photographer will use hashtags that go with what’s in each photo. Beauty Instagrammer’s use hashtags obviously related to beauty items. I use hashtag kind of just related again to lifestyle and what is in each photo I post. Deciding which hashtags to use really depends on what you are posting.

WHAT TO POST

Now you might be sitting there thinking what do I post. That is totally up to you no matter what your niche is it is still your Instagram page and it is completely up to you what to post. Maybe you if you didn’t have a theme before or a certain editing style before you could start with my photo of yourself. No I don’t mean a quick selfie you took but a nice little photo of yourself to help people to get to know who you are. Also, it’s a nice way to introduce your new theme to your current and new followers. Another thing both Instagram and Pinterest are great places to look for photo inspo.

PLANNING

It’s time to plan planning your theme which is very important. Planning your theme in a planning app is the best way to go. With these planning apps you can see what your theme is going to look like before you post a photo to Instagram. The planning app will help you see how each photo looks beside each other. So you don’t have to do the embarrassing post to Instagram you decide you don’t like the photo then delete after maybe ten people have seen it.

I love using the Preview App I’ve also used the UNUM app before. Personally right now I like the Preview App better but UNUM is good as well. I had used UNUM I think for about two years before I decided to switch to Preview. The only thing that made me switch from one app to the other was that in December while doing my Christmas theme I noticed that when I added my edited photos it would change the look of the photo to make it darker and more orange. I was worried that it that my photos would stay that way even after they were on Instagram. So that’s why I switched to Preview and I’ve been using it ever since then.

But I think planning apps are very helpful. You can load as many photos as you want into them then arrange them to your liking before posting to Instagram.

So here are my tip’s & trick’s to Instagram themes. Again, since I change mine so much I’m probably not the best person to give Instagram advice. But, this is what I have learned over the year so I wanted to share it with you to help you up your Instagram game. I hope you enjoyed this post because I love doing Instagram themed blog post. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed.
