Christmas is just days away and I am so excited. My Birthday is on Christmas Day so I am always in a Christmas mood. I start getting ready for this beautiful time of year in June so by the time it is here I am very ready for it. I have been waiting to start doing Christmas things like I said since June. Since it is now December it is time to do those things. I have made a list of my favorite things to do this season and now I am going to share them with you so lets get in to it.
HOT CHOCOLATE
Hot chocolate is a great treat to make during the Christmas season and it’s fun to do. I would like to think that hot chocolate is something I am very good at making. My dad and I both love hot chocolate so I make it almost everyday. I think that just by making almost everyday has definitely made me better at it. My hot chocolate recipe isn’t super special, unique, or a secret but it is good and we love it. I literally just use a Christmas coffee creamer. My favorite right now is International Delight Buddy The Elf frosted sugar cookie creamer. Next is whole milk or any milk of your choice but I use whole milk. I use Nesquik chocolate powder instead of a hot chocolate packet. To finish off my hot chocolate for toppings I use whip cream and Christmas sprinkles. Like I said nothing to special or complicated about what goes into my hot chocolates but it smells and tastes like Christmas so it gets us in the Christmas mood.
CHRISTMAS MOVIE TIME
You can never go wrong with getting cozy on the couch or in bed and watching a Christmas movie. I honestly have been watching Christmas movies since August, I just love them so much. My go to Christmas movies right now are Christmas Vacation which is something we watch pretty much all year long in our house and The Grinch (2018). I have seen both of these movies so many times now that I will turn them on during the day just for background noise. Christmas movies are something that makes my heart happy so watching a lot of them during this beautiful season is a lot of sun for me.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
I love Christmas lights! I love seeing them in my neighborhood and going out to see them around town. People in my neighborhood just now started to put up their lights and decorations a few days ago. We have had ours up since before Thanksgiving. We have a few neighborhoods around us that are really good and go all out with there lights and decorations. Some of these neighborhoods are really impressive and I love driving through them every year. There are also a few areas that are very nicely decorated that we can walk around that is also very fun to do. Like our zoo has a night light event I think every night in December. I haven’t been yet but it looks cute. There is also this event that happens every year down at the beach where companies take retired life guard chairs and decorate them in different themes for the Christmas season. We have other areas like shopping centers that are beautifully decorated and fun to walk around. I love seeing the Christmas lights and decorations every year and think that if you can find a very nicely decorated place to drive or walk around it is a very fun thing to do.
BUILD A GINGERBREAD HOUSE
I don’t know about anyone else but I love building gingerbread houses. I do build a gingerbread house every year and have so much doing it. I’ve seen people have gingerbread house building competitions which do look like fun. I usually build my gingerbread houses on my own but it is still fun to me because I get to take my time and don’t feel rushed. Because I do build them on my own it does take longer but it does keep me entertained. I do turn on some Christmas music or a movie while building so it really does put me in the Christmas mood and to me its a very fun Christmas activity.
BAKE COOKIES
Baking cookies is a great Christmasy thing to do, obviously you can bake cookies all year long. I make my Nana’s sugar cookie recipe during the Christmas season so it feels like a Christmas activity to me. Baking cookies also something very fun to do with friends. My best friend and I usually the week before Christmas have a day where we just bake all kinds of cookies. It’s fun because we get to bake the cookies, listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies, and exchange gifts. Overall it baking cookies is fun anytime of year but even more fun at during the Christmas season.
MAKE A CHRISTMAS PLAYLIST
Christmas music starts playing on the radio once Halloween is over. I however will listen to it all year long. I have a Christmas playlist made and I add more music to it every year. I would have to say my top favorite songs on the playlist right now are. Snowman by Sia, Underneath The Tree by Kelly Clarkson, Drummer Boy by Justin Bieber, Beautiful Christmas by Big Time Rush, and 25th by Tori Kelly. Making a playlist for the holiday season just makes it a lot more fun and will definitely put you in the a Christmas mood.
It is the Christmas Holiday season and it is time to get into the celebrating Christmas mood. There are so many fun things to do during this wonderful time of year. These are just a few of my top favorites. I really do love the Christmas season it is my favorite time of year.
